2021 has arrived! That means it’s time to look at some new themes, goals and ideas for my Bullet Journal. While there seems to be a mentality that a new year means a new journal is required, I think that a large part of the beauty of a Bullet Journal is that it is not constrained to things like calendar years. You make of it what you will. With my 2021 Bullet Journal setup then, I am going to show you how easy it is to flow from one year to the next without wasting precious paper.

New Year, Same Journal
As you can see, I’ve decided to be just a little bit colourful for my 2021 theme! This spread directly follows my 202o summary page, which I showed in my last post. I’ve not done a distinctive yearly theme before, but I thought it would be a great way to distinguish the new year without moving to my next journal.
I will be moving to my next journal for March, so setting a yearly theme will allow me to smoothly transition to my setup spreads for my new journal which I briefly showed earlier in the year.
This bright and cheerful this geometric theme sets me up for a hopeful 2021. I used my new Galaxy Palette Tombow Dual Brush Pens (AF) and I think it looks amazing. As I did a two-year future log at the start of this journal, there wasn’t a need to include one here, so I kept my 2021 setup pages very simple, with just some basic stats, themes and goals for the couple of months that are going to fit into this journal. As you can see, I’ve also included a slight spoiler of my January theme! Keep reading to check it out!

January 2021 Bullet Journal Setup
As my 2021 Bullet Journal Setup is minimal, I’ve decided to also include my January setup in this post. Like my 2021 theme, this one is also heavily based on the Galaxy Tombow set, as well as some fun geometrics.
January 2021 Cover Page
I love geometric patterns. Aesthetically I’ve always enjoyed straight lines and clear-cut patterns, and they have the advantage of being easy to draw!
This cover page borrows the border motif of this journal’s cover page, which is resplendent in green and gold. I’ve also returned to a very simple colour palette for January. Sticking with two colours always makes my decisions when drawing up each week so much easier.
Maintaining a Bullet Journal is a balance of practicality and visuals for me. Too far one way or the other and it’s either boring or too much effort. Having simple rules to keep me on track is a great way to manage this.
January 2021 Monthly Log
For my monthly log, I have stuck to my pink and grey colour choices and carried over the border motif.
This setup does not leave much spare space, but if I decide on set goals for January there’s plenty of room for them on the cover page! This being said, my goal progress over the last few months hasn’t been great, so I may take away that pressure for a month or two!
I love how easy it can be to set up and effective monthly theme that flows easily throughout the month, and I really think I’ve hit a winner this January.
January 2021 Mood & Habit Trackers
My now-familiar border motif is back in my mood tracker, but this time it’s waiting for colour. One of the most notable changes I made in my current Bullet Journal is monthly rather than yearly mood tracking.
With a monthly mood tracker, I actually remember to fill it in (mostly) so it’s a much better tool for me than the Year in Pixels.
I’ve kept my daily habits down to the five I had for December. January is very much a holiday month in Australia, so trying to cut down on things is difficult and taking up fitness pursuits in mid-summer is definitely not the best idea!
January 2021 Sleep Tracker & Blog Goals
As you can see from the stats below, December was not a great month on the blog for me. This is because I tried to stay with the same schedule I had when I was job hunting when I started full-time work, It got to be too much.
For the New Year, I’m dropping making Pins. While I know everybody raves about Pinterest as a great traffic source, I’m just not getting it, and I have been spending way too much time creating fresh pins that nobody sees.
I may have a play around with Tailwind and reusing old pins, but otherwise, I’m going to focus on other areas, including creating a more manageable posting schedule!

Week 1 of 2021
As week 1 of 2021 started in 2020, I decided to split it. You saw the first half in my last post, now you can see the second.
I wanted to keep this really simple, as it only covers three days, and really enjoyed creating the geometric feature to fill in the spare page. Luckily I’ve counted the pages I have left in this journal, so I know I can still fit in all of January and February!
While this isn’t the most space-efficient spread, I really enjoy the clean spaces, especially in contrast to my strong theme colours.
